Description
Forget the usual 50s-vs-modern debate — the Saturday Night Special was designed to live in the space between them. Wound with Alnico 4 magnets, this neck humbucker skips the vintage PAF’s woolier low end and instead comes through clearer and more defined, while still carrying that unmistakable late-70s arena rock character.
Where the bridge version of this set gets pushed hotter and fatter, the neck pickup is voiced to stay articulate and open, giving you punch and midrange push without tipping into the compressed feel typical of high-output humbuckers. It’s an easy pickup to play dynamically — dig in for grit, back off for cleaner breakup — which makes it a strong fit for players chasing that classic rock snarl without sacrificing note clarity.
Every Saturday Night Special is hand-built in Santa Barbara on an original Leesona pickup-winding machine — the same type used to wind the very first PAFs back in Kalamazoo. This one comes with four-conductor wiring for full coil-splitting flexibility, a maple spacer, and short mounting legs, so it’s ready to drop into most Gibson-style routs.
Available configurations for this series include:

This listing is for the neck pickup in zebra bobbins — pair it with the bridge model for the full Saturday Night Special voicing.
