Description
Back in 1978, Seymour Duncan was the guy serious players called when a stock PAF just wasn’t cutting it. One customer handed him a PAF and asked for a rewind that could pull more natural and artificial harmonics out of the pickup — Duncan answered with his signature hot wind, pushed a little further still. That request became the ’78 Model.
This neck pickup carries an Alnico 2 magnet paired with the same hot-wind specs as that original custom rewind, landing at 7.85k DCR. The combination gives you a warm, saturated crunch on rhythm parts while staying articulate enough for tapped runs and pinch harmonics that jump out rather than get buried. It’s a pickup that rewards aggressive playing — dig in with tapping, whammy bar dives, or artificial harmonics and it responds with clarity instead of mush.
If your rig calls for classic rock rhythm crunch that still has room for expressive lead work, the ’78 Model neck pickup delivers exactly that vintage-meets-hot-rodded balance.
