Description
Back in 1978, Seymour Duncan was the guy players called when a stock PAF just wasn’t cutting it. One customer handed him a PAF and asked for a rewind that would make natural and artificial harmonics leap out of the mix. Duncan answered with his signature hot wind, cranked up a notch further — and that one-off spec became the ’78 Model.
- Alnico 2 magnet for warmth and touch-sensitive dynamics
- Wound to the exact hot specs of the original ’78 custom rewind
- Zebra bobbin finish
- Designed for bridge position
The Alnico 2 magnet keeps things smooth and vocal rather than harsh, while the hot-wound coils push output into rock crunch territory without losing note definition. That combination is what makes tapped passages and pinch harmonics ring out so clearly — every overtone stays articulate even when you’re leaning hard into the amp.
If your playing lives somewhere between classic rock rhythm crunch and lead lines full of tapping, harmonics, and whammy bar drama, the ’78 Model gives you the touch response and grind to pull it all off convincingly.
