Description
The original Jazz Model earned its reputation as one of Seymour Duncan’s most beloved neck pickups by nailing that sweet balance of shimmering top end and tight, defined low end. The SH-2n Jazz Rails takes that same tonal DNA and reworks it around a rail-style Alnico VIII bar magnet, trading individual pole pieces for a continuous magnetic surface that every string crosses evenly. For 7-string players especially, that even coverage matters — no more worrying about string spacing lining up with pole placement.
What you get is a neck pickup that stays clear and articulate even under gain, with sustain that holds together instead of fizzling out. It’s voiced to complement Duncan’s SH-4 JB Rails in the bridge, giving you a matched rail-humbucker set with consistent output character front to back.
Each SH-2n Jazz Rails is handbuilt at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, California facility. Inside, it’s loaded with vacuum wax-potted 4-conductor lead wire, which keeps microphonic squeal in check and opens up wiring flexibility — split coils, series/parallel switching, phase reversal, whatever your control cavity is set up for.
