Description
Mustaine built his career on riffs that need to cut through a wall of gain without turning into mush, and the Livewire set is his answer to that problem. Rather than build a generic active pickup from scratch, Seymour Duncan matched the resonant frequency of an SH-4 JB (bridge) and SH-2N Jazz Model (neck) and wrapped them in an active preamp. The result is a set that behaves like a passive humbucker at heart, dynamic, expressive, full of that Seymourized character, but with the output and gain ceiling of an active system.
- Discrete Class A preamp circuitry, low-noise and capable of running up to 25 volts for serious headroom
- Resonant frequencies of the SH-4 JB and SH-2N Jazz Model intentionally matched for a cohesive bridge/neck pairing
- Low-profile coil geometry boosts efficiency and dynamic response
- Black nickel-plated covers for a stealth, road-ready look that keeps tonal coloration to a minimum
- Everything you need to wire it up: mounting hardware, pots, jack, and battery clip included
Built for players who live in thrash, old-school metal, nu-metal, black metal, punk, garage, and classic rock territory, this set delivers the aggression and clarity those styles demand while keeping the touch sensitivity that separates a real guitar tone from a compressed digital one. If you want active-level output without giving up feel under your fingers, this is the set Mustaine himself trusts on stage.
