Mustaine built his career on riffs that need to cut through a wall of gain without turning into mush, and the Livewire set is his answer to that problem. Rather than build a generic active pickup from scratch, Seymour Duncan matched the resonant frequency of an SH-4 JB (bridge) and SH-2N Jazz Model (neck) and wrapped them in an active preamp.
