Description
The Quarter Pound earned its cult status for a reason: it takes the classic split-coil P-Bass voice and injects it with real muscle. Seymour Duncan swapped standard pole pieces for oversized 1/4″ diameter alnico 5 rods, which widens the magnetic aperture and pulls more low-end and midrange out of the string than a stock pickup can manage. The payoff is especially obvious on the low B — where cheaper 5-string pickups go thin and undefined, the QP keeps that string fat, focused, and present in the mix.
- 1/4″ diameter alnico 5 rod magnets for an expanded magnetic field
- Forbon flatwork construction
- Vacuum wax potted to kill microphonic squeal
- Hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA
- Black covers included
- Direct drop-in replacement for American Standard Precision Bass
Don’t let the rock reputation fool you — this pickup covers more ground than its reputation suggests. Yes, it plows through heavy, aggressive tones with authority, but there’s enough clarity and touch sensitivity in the coil to work just as well for funk, session, or straight-ahead studio work. If your 5-string P-Bass needs more push, more mid-range bite, and a low B that finally sounds like it belongs, this is the upgrade.
