Description
The SJB-3s Quarter Pound set takes the classic Jazz Bass platform and dials the attitude way up. Seymour Duncan achieves this with larger-diameter alnico 5 rod magnets and a denser coil winding than a stock J pickup, which pulls more signal off the strings and translates into hotter output, sharper attack, and noticeably longer sustain. The result still reads as “Jazz Bass,” just with more muscle behind it — equally at home slapping funk lines, driving a rock mix, or laying down warm, textured tones for anything else you throw at it.
The bridge and neck pickups are matched as a set, with the neck unit wound RWRP (reverse wind, reverse polarity) so the pair cancels hum when both are active — standard Jazz Bass wiring logic, done right. Physically, these are drop-in replacements for any American Standard Jazz Bass, so there’s no routing or modification needed to install them.
Each pickup is hand-built in Santa Barbara, CA using forbon flatwork and is fully wax potted to keep things quiet and squeal-free even at higher gain. They ship with a black cover.
