Description
The AJB-2b is the bridge half of Seymour Duncan’s Basslines Lightin’ Rods active system, engineered specifically for Jazz Bass-style instruments. Rather than relying on a hot output alone, this pickup pairs with a fully discrete onboard preamp to keep noise down while stretching your dynamic range further than a typical passive setup allows.
Tonally, it leans into what made vintage Jazz Bass pickups so revered: a focused midrange that gives notes real definition and separation, especially useful when you’re cutting through a busy mix. Up top the highs stay smooth rather than brittle, while the low end holds a solid, warm foundation instead of turning muddy or flabby.
Because the preamp runs low impedance, you get a quieter signal path with less susceptibility to interference and cable-length losses, all powered from a single battery.
