The AJB-5s is Seymour Duncan’s answer for 5-string players who need active output without sacrificing the character that made Jazz Bass pickups a standard in the first place. It’s a calibrated neck/bridge set designed to work as a team, so you get a cohesive tone across the whole fretboard rather than two pickups fighting for space.

Tonally, this set is aimed at players working in blues, classic rock, heavy rock, and metal — genres where you need increased output but still want nuance underneath the aggression. For deeper tonal shaping, it’s commonly paired with an STC-2 or STC-3 Tone Circuit.
Built for both 4- and 5-string basses, though it’s worth noting this is not a drop-in retrofit for the Fender Jazz V specifically. It does fit a wide range of popular 5-string instruments, accommodating string spacing up to 3.10″ (78.7mm) at the bridge and 3.00″ (76.2mm) at the neck. Check your spacing before ordering to make sure it lines up with your bass.
