Description
Since 1986, Slash has recorded almost everything on one particular Les Paul®. The APH-2B Alnico II Pro was built to hand that same tone over to his other, stage-ready guitars — no need to hunt down a mythical vintage instrument to get there.
It starts from the same foundation as the standard APH-1 Alnico II Pro, using an Alnico 2 magnet for that rounded, vocal midrange. But the winding on this bridge unit is dialed up just enough to nudge a stock Les Paul into Slash’s territory: creamy sustain that tips into a satisfying, rude snarl when you dig in. Under the covers, it carries the same appointments found in Slash’s original ’86 recording guitar — single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and a wooden spacer — details that matter as much to tone as they do to authenticity. It’s also the exact pickup shipped in the current Gibson® Slash model Les Paul.
- Alnico 2 magnet for warm, moderate output
- Well-suited to jazz, blues, and classic rock voicings
- Single-conductor cable, long-legged baseplate, wooden spacer
- Works well beyond Les Paul-style guitars — any balanced humbucker platform, including hollow and semi-hollow bodies
For the full recorded Slash sound, pair this bridge unit with its zebra-covered neck counterpart — his own guitar runs reverse zebra in the bridge and zebra in the neck. Available individually in black, zebra, or reverse zebra, or as a matched zebra/reverse zebra set. Feeding it into a warm, tube-driven overdrive brings out the singing leads and chunky rhythm work this pickup was built for.
