Description
The SH-1N is Seymour Duncan’s take on the late-1950s P.A.F. formula, built for the neck position where that vintage voice really shines. Expect glassy, warm clean tones that stay articulate under a light touch, and a smooth, singing sustain when you dig in for leads. Push it into distortion and the ’59 stays full-bodied without turning to mush, thanks to a slightly scooped midrange that keeps note definition intact.
Under the cover you’ll find the classic vintage-correct appointments: plain enamel magnet wire, a long-legged bottom plate, and a single-conductor vintage-style cable — no logo on the cover, keeping the look period-authentic. Unlike some vintage-spec pickups, this one is vacuum wax potted, so you get that old-school sound without the squealing feedback that can plague unpotted coils at higher gain.
Versatility is the name of the game here — the SH-1N works equally well for country twang, jazz warmth, bluesy grit, funk snap, and both classic and heavy rock. Many players pair this neck pickup with a hotter bridge humbucker, such as the SH-4 JB or SH-13 Dimebucker, to cover a wider tonal range across the two positions.
This listing is for the Zebra finish, so you get that classic black-and-cream coil contrast right out of the box.
