If you’ve chased that late-’50s humbucker sound without wanting to hunt down an actual ’59 Les Paul, the SH-1N ’59 is Seymour Duncan’s answer. This is the neck-position version, wound to vintage-correct specs with plain enamel wire and a long-legged bottom plate — no logo, just honest PAF tone.
Where it shines is in the details: cleans come out warm and glassy, with just enough shimmer to keep chords from turning muddy. Push it into overdrive and you get a full, articulate breakup rather than a wall of mush, with smooth sustain that doesn’t fight your phrasing. Compared to Duncan’s own SH-55 Seth Lover, the ’59 pulls its midrange back slightly, giving it a bit more scoop and openness. It’s also vacuum wax potted, so you can dig in at stage volume without inviting feedback squeal.
