Description

The SH-2 Jazz has built its reputation in the neck slot, but don’t let the label pigeonhole it — this humbucker’s articulate, well-defined voice works across rock, metal, and everything in between. It’s the pickup Randy Rhoads famously used in the neck position, proof that “Jazz” is more about tonal character than genre restriction.

Output is moderate and the top end stays clear rather than harsh, making it excellent for fast lead runs where note definition matters. Push it into distortion and the tone fills out nicely while staying bright and articulate rather than muddy. Sustain comes through smooth and even. Compared to the SH-1 ’59 Model, expect a touch less output paired with more detailed treble — a slightly leaner, more precise cousin.

Because of that clarity and restrained output, the Jazz neck pairs especially well with hotter bridge pickups. Seymour himself favors it alongside the SH-4 JB, and it’s also a popular match with the SH-5 Duncan Custom — either combination giving you a wide tonal spread between positions.

  • Classic moderate-output humbucker, designed for the neck position
  • Clear, articulate voice with smooth sustain
  • Slightly less output and more detailed highs than the SH-1 ’59 Model
  • Four-conductor hookup cable included for flexible wiring options
  • Gold cover
  • Available in matching bridge version
