Description

The Pearly Gates started life as an attempt to bottle the magic of a ’59 Les Paul Standard, the kind that fueled Texas blues-rock at its rowdiest. This is the neck version, and it splits the difference beautifully: warmer and rounder than a straight vintage-output humbucker, but with just enough bite and top-end sparkle to keep pick attack articulate and harmonics jumping out on command.

  • Slightly hotter than vintage output, with generous sustain
  • Bright, lively top end that favors harmonic content over mud
  • Ships with four-conductor hookup cable for full coil-splitting flexibility
  • Finished in gold to match your hardware

It’s a natural fit for blues, classic rock, southern rock, jam-band stretching, and hard rock riffing — anywhere you want grit without losing clarity. Because it leans bright, the Pearly Gates neck pickup really shines in guitars that already have some sparkle to them: maple and ebony fretboards bring out its best, and it also plays nicely in hollow and semi-hollow bodies where you need clarity without thinning out the low end.

Pair it with an SH-11 Custom Custom in the bridge for a set that covers everything from sweet blues phrasing to heavier rock crunch. It’s the pickup behind players like Dickey Betts, Warren Haynes of Gov’t Mule, Howard Leese of Heart, and Greg Martin of the Kentucky Headhunters — all of whom ran it in both neck and bridge positions.
