Description
Seymour Duncan didn’t just approximate the original Jaguar single-coil — they reverse-engineered it down to the pole piece. The SJAG-1 bridge model uses the same hand-ground magnet process Fender employed decades ago, which is a big part of why this pickup nails that airy, glassy top-end instead of sounding like a generic single-coil wearing a Jaguar costume.
Wind, wire gauge, and coil geometry all follow vintage spec, so you get the sparkle and snap that made these pickups a go-to for surf and rockabilly leads, plus enough clarity to keep ska upstrokes and country chicken-pickin’ articulate rather than mushy. It also cleans up beautifully at lower volumes, which makes it just as home in blues and classic rock rhythm parts as it is on a reverb-drenched instrumental.
Specs and inclusions:
- Vintage-correct single-coil construction with hand-ground pole pieces
- Waxed cloth hookup cable included
- Cover and mounting “claw” not included
- Pairs with the reverse-wound neck version for hum-canceling in the middle position
If you’re chasing that unmistakable ’60s Jaguar sparkle without hunting down a decades-old original, this bridge pickup gets you there — and gives you a great excuse to finally rewire that offset.
