Description
Take the classic single-coil Jazz Bass voice and give it a shove into rock territory — that’s the idea behind the Hot Jazz Bass bridge pickup. Seymour Duncan built this one off the same blueprint as their Vintage Jazz Bass pickup, but wound the coils more aggressively to raise output and thicken up the midrange. The result is a punchier, more forward tone that still keeps that unmistakable Jazz Bass snap in the attack.
Where the Vintage model stays polite and scooped, this one leans into the mids — making it a natural fit for pop, blues, classic rock, and heavier rock styles where you need the bass to cut through a dense mix without losing its character. It’s the bridge pickup, so expect that characteristic tight, growly edge that bridge-position single-coils are known for.
- Single-coil design based on the Vintage Jazz Bass pickup
- Hotter coil winding for increased output
- Heavier mid-range emphasis suited to rock tones
- Includes logo cover
- Bridge position pickup (neck version is reverse-wound for hum-cancelling when paired together)
If your Jazz Bass sound needs more attitude without abandoning that classic single-coil character, this is where you start.
