Description
The Quarter Pound Strat has always been the pickup you reach for when a regular single-coil feels underpowered — those hand-polished, quarter-inch magnets paired with a heavier-than-usual coil wind push output past double what a traditional single-coil delivers. This tapped RW/RP version takes that same fat, punchy character and adds flexibility: two hot outputs let you choose between full-tilt Quarter Pound power or a scaled-back, more vintage-feeling response, all from one pickup.
Being reverse-wound/reverse-polarity, it’s built to hum-cancel when paired with a standard-wound neighbor in positions 2 and 4, so you get quiet, chimey combinations without giving up the aggression this pickup is known for on its own.
Tonally it sits closer to a P-90 than a stock Strat pickup — thick, articulate low end, a forward midrange, and enough sustain to keep notes singing. Backed off, it cleans up nicely for blues and classic rock rhythm tones; opened up, it snarls through garage rock, heavy rock, and metal territory without losing string definition. No cover, just raw coil and magnet doing the work.
