Description
If you’ve ever wished your Stingray had a bit more sculpting power than the stock 2-band setup, the STC-3M4 is Seymour Duncan’s answer. This is the 4-knob configuration of their Music Man Tone Circuit, prewired and ready to drop into the control cavity with minimal fuss.
- Independent bass, treble, and midrange controls instead of a single stacked EQ pot
- Master volume knob doubles as a push-pull switch for the onboard Slap Switch
- Treble response stays open and articulate without turning harsh or icy
- Low end is tight and full rather than flabby
- Midrange sweeps from smooth and scooped to aggressive and punchy
The Slap Switch is the real party trick here — pull up on the volume knob and the circuit kicks in a dedicated EQ contour voiced for slap and pop technique. Two trim pots on the board let you dial in exactly how aggressive that contour hits, so it’s tuned to your playing rather than a generic factory setting.
Pair it with Seymour Duncan’s Music Man-style replacement pickups for a full electronics overhaul, though the preamp works fine with your existing pickup too — as long as it’s the standard 2-coil Music Man design. This circuit is not compatible with 3-coil Sterling-style pickups.
Beyond genuine Stingrays, this harness fits any bass with room for 4 knobs (volume/slap, midrange, and a concentric bass/treble control), a single passive pickup, and space for a 9v battery. Running two 9v batteries in series is an option if you want extra headroom.
Everything needed for installation is included: prewired harness with quality pots, battery clip, stereo output jack, mounting hardware, and black anodized knurled dome knobs.
