Description

The STK-J1 is Seymour Duncan’s answer to a problem every vintage Jazz Bass owner knows well: that gorgeous 60s single-coil tone comes bundled with an annoying dose of hum. This stacked-coil design solves it by canceling noise internally, so you get the same articulate midrange, silky top end, and warm low-end thump without ever touching a noise gate.

  • Alnico 5 rod magnets for classic vintage output and feel
  • Forbon flatwork construction
  • 4-conductor leadwire for flexible wiring options
  • Vacuum wax potted to eliminate microphonic squeal

This is the bridge-position model, wound slightly hotter than its neck counterpart to help balance output between the two pickups — a small tweak that makes a real difference when blending. It’s built as a direct drop-in for the bridge slot on a 4-string Fender American Standard Jazz Bass.

One important fitment note: this is the wider American-sized bridge pickup. If you’re working on a Mexican Standard Jazz Bass, both pickup routes on that instrument are neck-sized, so you’d actually need two neck-position STK-J1 units rather than a bridge/neck pair.

Pair this with the Classic Stack Jazz Bass neck pickup for a matched, hum-free set. Every STK-J1 is hand built in Santa Barbara, CA, carrying on Seymour Duncan’s reputation for pickups that respect the original tone while quietly fixing what needed fixing.
