The Custom Trembucker takes the beloved Seymour Duncan Custom voicing and widens the coil spacing to suit hardtail bridges with generous string spread — think 2 inches or more from the middle of the low E to the high E string just above the bridge pickup. It’s built for players who want the classic Custom tone but need a pickup that actually lines up with their bridge’s pole spacing.
Under the hood sits an Alnico 2 bar magnet, which softens the attack and rounds out the lows while letting a hotter-than-average winding push out rich harmonic content. The net effect is a full, sweet-sounding pickup with a noticeably thicker treble response than most humbuckers in its class — highs stay vocal and articulate rather than harsh, while the lower midrange thickens up chords and gives single notes some extra meat.
Each Custom Trembucker is hand-built at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, CA facility with a nickel-silver bottom plate and 4-conductor lead wire, so you’ve got the flexibility to wire it for coil-split, series/parallel, or standard humbucker operation. It’s vacuum wax potted too, keeping things quiet at high gain and squeak-free under a slide or heavy vibrato.
