Description
The TB-16 59/Custom Hybrid takes an unconventional approach to bridge pickup design: instead of winding both coils the same way, Seymour Duncan pairs a ’59 screw coil with a Custom slug coil in one housing. The result is a pickup that borrows the top-end clarity and articulate note definition of the ’59 while leaning on the Custom side for low-end punch and a thick, growling midrange. It’s a tone that splits the difference between vintage sparkle and modern push rather than compromising between them.
- Best suited to blues, rock, pop, and classic rock players who want versatility without losing character
- Built for the bridge position, ideally paired with a vintage-output neck humbucker like the ’59n or Alnico II Pro for a balanced two-pickup set
- Works well in any well-balanced dual-humbucker guitar, regardless of maple or rosewood fingerboard
- Wired traditionally, coil-splitting isolates the stronger Custom coil for a punchier single-coil-style tone rather than a thin one
This TB-16 is finished in white and set up in standard humbucker spacing, available with nickel or gold hardware. Players needing wider pole spacing can find the same hybrid voicing in Trembucker spacing, and there’s a 7-string version too for extended-range setups.
