Description
The ’59 Trembucker takes Seymour Duncan’s beloved vintage PAF formula and stretches the pole spacing to fit Fender-spaced trem bridges and post-1999 Gibson instruments with wider string spacing. If you’ve always wanted that late-’50s humbucker character but your bridge won’t accommodate a standard-spaced Duncan, this is the fix.
Tonally, expect the hallmarks that made the original ’59 a staple: clean tones that stay warm without turning muddy, plus a crystalline top end that keeps chords sounding defined rather than smeared. Push it into distortion and the pickup opens up into full, bright overdrive with sustain that rolls out smoothly rather than falling off a cliff. It’s a genuinely versatile voice – equally comfortable backing up jazz chords, twanging through country licks, growling on blues bends, chugging funk rhythms, or driving classic and heavy rock riffs.
Under the hood, the ’59 is vacuum wax potted, which keeps things quiet and squeal-free even at higher gain and stage volume. Compared to Duncan’s SH-55 Seth Lover, the ’59 leans into slightly more scooped mids, giving it a bit more openness in the midrange while still retaining that vintage-correct humbucker DNA.
