Description
The H1 is the mildest-output member of Tom Anderson’s H series humbuckers, tuned for players who want clarity and air rather than sheer output. It carries that signature H series trait: full, open-sounding overdrive that never turns fizzy or fuzzy, even when you push it into breakup.
- Vintage-style output for dynamic, touch-sensitive playing
- Larger pole pieces and reworked string spacing for even magnetic pull across all six strings, eliminating the dropout issues common on high and low strings
- 4-conductor shielded cable included for full wiring flexibility (series, parallel, split, out-of-phase)
- Splittable design — Anderson’s coil-split humbuckers are widely regarded as some of the best available
Elliot Easton of The Cars reached for the H1 on “Tonight She Comes,” a good indicator of the pickup’s musical, chime-y character. We find it especially rewarding in the neck position, where its open voice sets up a satisfying contrast against a hotter, more aggressive bridge pickup — giving you real tonal separation between positions instead of two pickups that just sound like louder/quieter versions of each other.
If you’re chasing smooth, uncompressed overdrive with genuine upper-end sparkle, the H1 belongs in your build.
