Description
Seymour Duncan didn’t just design these to sound like a late-’50s P90 — they built them the same way. Pull the black soapbar cover and you’ll find hand-fabricated bobbins, period-correct wire, and the same “flatback” tape used in original units from a ’52 goldtop or ’59 ES-330. Two Dun-Aged Alnico II bar magnets sit on a precision metal spacer that channels the magnetic field up through six fillister head pole pieces, giving you that loose, woody, slightly gnarly vintage voice P90 players chase.
The set is calibrated neck-to-bridge, so the bridge pickup runs a touch hotter (8.52K DC resistance, 7.41 henries) to balance against the sweeter, rounder neck (8.10K, 6.85 henries) — both with a Q of 2.84. Height adjustment is body-mounted rather than pickup-ring mounted, matching original soapbar construction, and both pickups share south magnet polarity with the classic two-bar-magnet layout.
