Seth Lover’s original PAF design gets the aging treatment here — Seymour Duncan’s Antiquity set is built to traditional specs but finished to look like it’s spent 40 years gigging under stage lights. The nickel silver covers and pole pieces are hand-aged, not just tinted, so the wear looks earned rather than sprayed on. No two coils are identical either: each pickup carries its own DC resistance and personality, exactly like the vintage units Lover wound decades ago.
Crucially, these are left unpotted. Skipping the wax dip keeps the microphonic character and open, breathing top end that potted humbuckers tend to smooth over — part of the reason vintage PAFs have that reputation in the first place. Every pickup comes out of Seymour Duncan’s dedicated “Antiquity” room hand-signed on the magnet and bottom plate, so you know it’s the real thing. A front-tapered mounting ring and matching screws are included with the set.
