Description
Seymour Duncan didn’t just reissue a P90 spec sheet with the Antiquity line — they reverse-engineered the actual guts of a ’52 gold top and a ’59 ES-330 and rebuilt them by hand. Pull the dogear cover off and you’ll find the same hand-wound bobbins, the same wire, and the same “flatback” tape those originals used. Nothing modernized, nothing streamlined for production speed.
Tone comes from a pair of Dun-Aged Alnico II magnets, individually calibrated and mated to a precision metal spacer that feeds the magnetic field through six fillister pole pieces per coil. That’s the classic P90 formula: fat, slightly gritty low mids, a vocal midrange push, and top end that stays articulate instead of icy. The dogear covers are thermoformed and aged to match, so they look like they’ve been living in a case for six decades even though they’re brand new.
This set pairs a North-polarity neck pickup with a South-polarity bridge pickup for correct hum-cancelling behavior when combined, each calibrated separately — bridge reads roughly 8.52k DC ohms / 7.41 henries, with the set built around 2-bar magnet construction throughout. Mounting is cavity-style, standard dogear footprint, drop-in for any guitar routed for that format.
Included in the bundle: a set of Ernie Ball EB2222 Hybrid Slinky strings, so you can restring the moment the new pickups go in and hear the whole package break in together.
