Description
Long before he was building pickups for a living, Seymour Duncan was wearing out phonograph needles on records by The Ventures and Roy Lanham, chasing whatever sorcery was happening inside those offset Jazzmasters. The Antiquity II set is his answer to that obsession — a pickup voiced to capture the airy, slightly wiry character that made Jazzmasters the go-to sound of ’60s instrumental rock, especially when paired with a floating tremolo and a wall of spring reverb.
This is a calibrated neck/bridge pair, meaning the two pickups are matched to work together rather than sold as identical twins. The neck pickup winds top-going with north polarity, while the bridge winds top-coming with south polarity — the combination that gives Jazzmasters their signature push-pull between warmth and bite depending on which pickup (or blend) you’re leaning on. Raised polepieces on both the top and bottom of each coil help even out string-to-string output, and height adjustment happens straight into the body per Jazzmaster spec.
- Top pickup: 3.530″ long x 1.512″ wide
- Bottom pickup: 3.530″ long x 1.512″ wide
- Total pickup height: .318″
- Total magnet height: .471″
- DC resistance: 8.3K ohms
- Inductance: 4.2 henries
- Q: 3.5
Rounding out the bundle, a set of Ernie Ball EB2223 Super Slinky strings gives you fresh strings to string up alongside your new pickups — because a rewire session is the perfect excuse for new strings anyway.
