Description
The Antiquity II Surf set is Seymour Duncan’s answer for players chasing that elusive vintage Strat character — the kind of glassy top-end and woody low-end that made these pickups a favorite on the Seymour Duncan User Group Forum. Don’t be fooled by the beachy name; this trio is just as at home cutting through West Side Chicago blues or jangly pop as it is surf instrumentals. Aged appearance aside, these are built to deliver real output and touch sensitivity, not just nostalgia.
The set covers all three positions with purpose-built voicing:
- Surfer (Neck): South polarity, staggered/raised magnets, 6.3K DC resistance, 2.87 henries inductance, Q of 2.39 — calibrated for sweet, airy highs.
- Custom Bridge (Bridge): Same construction philosophy but wound hotter — 9.7K DC resistance, 4.08 henries, Q of 2.52 — for players who need extra push from the bridge without losing clarity.
- Surfer RW/RP (Middle): Identical to the neck Surfer but with reverse wind/reverse polarity, so positions 2 and 4 stay hum-canceling.
All three pickups share top-going winding direction, calibrated construction, and the same physical footprint (top length 2.642″, top width .615″, bottom length 3.392″, bottom width .908″, total height .582″) with covers measuring 2.750″ x .700″ x .495″. Height adjustment uses standard 6/32 oval-head Phillips screws.
This bundle also throws in a set of Ernie Ball EB2223 Super Slinky strings, so once you’ve got the new pickups wired in, you’re ready to string up and dial in that vintage tone right away.
