Description
Bartolini’s PBF series was built around one goal: bottle the character of the best old-school humbuckers without the mud or the squeal. Bill Bartolini developed the line alongside Ed Reynolds, a guitar builder and repairman who cut his teeth in Chicago in the ’70s and early ’80s before moving his focus to Austin, Texas, where he now works exclusively on electric guitars. That background shows up in how deliberately these pickups are voiced.
The PBF-49/PBF-51 combo is the Vintage Pair, aimed at players chasing the tonal territory of the earliest PAF-era humbuckers. The PBF-49 neck winds in around 7.5K-ohms, while the PBF-51 bridge sits just over 8K-ohms — a spread that keeps the low end focused and articulate instead of loose, while letting the top end open up with a genuine sweetness rather than harsh sizzle.
Every PBF pickup is fully epoxy-cast, which kills unwanted microphonics and feedback so you can dig in without the pickup talking back through the amp.
- Vintage-voiced humbucker pair: PBF-49 (neck) and PBF-51 (bridge)
- Neck winding near 7.5K-ohms, bridge just over 8K-ohms
- Epoxy-cast construction for reduced feedback and microphonics
- Available with Chrome, Nickel, or Gold plated covers
Classic looks mean this set drops in just as naturally on a ’59 Les Paul or a semi-hollow jazz box as it does on a heavy metal workhorse.
