Description
The 59J1 L/S set gives your 5-string Jazz Bass the pickup pairing Fender originally intended: a longer coil at the bridge, a shorter one at the neck, each wound with a dual in-line hum-cancelling layout so you get quiet operation without sacrificing that classic J-bass growl. Tonally, expect deep, authoritative lows and a rounded low-mid presence rather than a scooped, glassy voice — these are built for players who want punch and weight under the note. As part of Bartolini’s Original Series, the coils are passive and epoxy-cast, which locks out microphonics and stray feedback so the set stays stable at stage volume.
Fit matters here: the neck pickup measures 3-5/8″ and the bridge measures 3-3/4″ — the standard staggered J-bass lengths, not a matched pair. If your bass uses two long pickups, you’d need the LN (long neck) version instead of dropping a bridge pickup into the neck slot, so double-check your current pickups’ physical length before ordering.
This bundle also includes Bartolini’s HR3.3/918 pre-wired harness, sparing you the soldering marathon of building your own preamp circuit from scratch. It’s built around a 2-band EQ with a Volume/Blend pot arrangement (two holes) and a stacked Treble/Bass tone control (one hole), using Bartolini’s own preamp electronics and audio-grade pots for smooth, long-term control feel.
