Description
This set pairs DiMarzio’s PAF Pro (DP151BK) in the neck with the Norton (DP160FBK, F-spaced) in the bridge, both finished in black, and throws in a free set of D’Addario EXL120 Super Light strings to get you playing right away.
The PAF Pro was born when high-gain rigs and rack processors started taking over, and players needed a pickup that could cut through the chain without losing that open, vintage PAF character. It’s got snap and chunk in the low end, a mid-range spike that gives it a subtle wah-parked-halfway vocal quality, and highs that stay articulate instead of turning brittle. It’s flexible enough for any position, but it especially shines in the neck, or in the bridge when you don’t need max output.
The Norton lands tonally between FRED and The Tone Zone — some of FRED’s snarling harmonic bite, combined with more midrange muscle and power like the Tone Zone. It uses the same patented dual-resonance design as those two pickups, giving you a hotter, bigger sound than vintage-output humbuckers without tipping into full distortion-class territory. It’s one of DiMarzio’s most adaptable bridge pickups, equally at home next to a PAF Pro, PAF 36th Anniversary, Air Classic, or Air Norton.
