Description
EMG didn’t just make another under-saddle pickup with the AS125U — they engineered one of the first piezo film transducers on the market, earning two patents along the way. The complete package bundles the AT125 saddle pickup, the APA-2 onboard preamp, and an EMG endpin jack, so everything you need to go direct or into an amp is included in one box.
What sets the AT125 apart is its layered Bimorph piezo film construction. Instead of relying on piezo crystals, which tend to ring with an unwanted resonance right in the audible range, EMG’s film stack stays smooth and honest across the spectrum — sparkling highs without the glassy harshness, plus a low end that stays full instead of going boomy or thin. The layered design also drops output impedance and roughly doubles the signal compared to single-layer film pickups, giving the APA-2 preamp a stronger, cleaner source to work with.
Because the piezo film runs the full length of the saddle rather than sitting under individual strings, string spacing and count aren’t an issue — it’ll track evenly no matter how your guitar is strung. One important note: measure your saddle width before ordering to make sure the AT125 will actually fit your bridge.
