Description
Your stock P-Bass pickup was built to a budget. The DiMarzio Model P (DP122BK) is built to a standard — and dropping it in is one of the fastest ways to hear what your bass has been holding back. This is a two-piece, hum-cancelling design tuned to keep the classic split-coil clarity while adding real gain and a firmer low end.
What you’ll notice first is the midrange. It’s pushed forward with a gutsy, aggressive edge that starts to growl as you dig in harder, without letting the ceramic magnet’s punch get flabby or lose bottom-end authority. Mixes and dense bands are where this pickup earns its keep — it cuts through without you having to fight the tone knob.
Wired with 4-conductor cable, you get the flexibility to run standard humbucking operation or wire it for coil-split/parallel options if your setup allows. Pair it with a bridge-position DiMarzio Model J or Ultra Jazz and you open up a whole tonal map, from tight, punchy mid-focus to warm, round bottom with a bright, articulate attack on top.
