Description
Stock P-Bass pickups get the job done, but the DiMarzio DP122 Model P is built to do more. This two-piece, hum-cancelling design drops straight into any Precision-style bass and hands you a bigger, punchier voice without losing the character that makes a P-Bass a P-Bass.
Under the hood is a ceramic magnet driving 4-conductor wiring, which means you get flexibility for series, parallel, or single-coil wiring schemes if you want to get creative with your control cavity. Output sits at 163mV with 11.54 Kohm of DC resistance, giving you added gain over a typical stock pickup while keeping the low end tight and controlled rather than muddy.
Tonally, the Model P leans into gutsy midrange growl, the kind that shows up when you dig in hard on a downbeat and need the note to cut through a dense mix without thinning out. It stays true to the classic split-coil P-Bass sound but with more headroom and clarity on top.
Want to build out a full P/J setup? Pair this Model P with a bridge-position DiMarzio Model J or Ultra Jazz and you can dial in everything from focused mid-punch to a warm, wide-open low end with a bright, articulate attack.
This listing bundles the pickup with a set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings (EB2834), so once the wiring’s done, you’re restrung and ready to break it in.
