Description
The DiMarzio Model J set (DP123BK) takes the woody, resonant voice everyone loves about a vintage-style Jazz Bass and gives it more muscle. You still get that round, articulate midrange and the way the neck/bridge blend opens up for slap or fingerstyle work, but with noticeably more output and full hum-cancellation, so noisy stages and single-coil hiss aren’t part of the deal anymore.
- Ceramic magnets with 4-conductor wiring for series/parallel/split options
- 150mV output, 6.82 Kohm DC resistance
- Correctly sized for original Fender Jazz Bass routing — the neck pickup is shorter than the bridge pickup, matching the two different cavity sizes found on classic J-Bass bodies
- Also sold separately as DP123S (short) and DP123L (long) if you only need one size
Fretless players get a lot of mileage out of these too — roll off the tone slightly and glissandos and vibrato come through with a warm, almost violin-like character. Want more tonal range? Drop a DiMarzio Model P in the bridge position alongside a Model J and you’ve got the fat low-end punch of a P-style pickup paired with the tighter attack of the J, covering a wider spread of tones than either pickup alone.
Black cover, sold as a matched set. This listing includes a free set of Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings (EB2834) — a solid excuse to restring while you’re in there rewiring anyway.
