Description
Some pickup combos become classics because they just work, and the PAF Pro / Tone Zone pairing is one of them. This set drops a DiMarzio PAF Pro (DP151BK) in the neck and an F-spaced Tone Zone (DP155FBK) in the bridge, both finished in black, plus a free set of D’Addario EXL110 Regular Light strings to get you playing right out of the box.
The PAF Pro was built for the era when high-gain rigs and rack processing started taking over, and it still does exactly what it was designed to do: stay open and articulate under heavy effects instead of turning to mush. Expect snappy, chunky lows, a vocal mid-range spike that hints at a half-cocked wah, and treble that cuts without turning harsh. On its own it’s a fantastic all-position pickup — here it’s doing neck duty, where its clarity really shines.
The Tone Zone in the bridge handles the muscle. It’s a genuinely hot pickup, but with more dynamic range than most high-output designs — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtones alive even at that output level, so bass-heavy chords stay huge without collapsing into mud, and single notes retain real depth. Coil-split it for a surprisingly usable single-coil voice too.
