Description
This set pairs two of DiMarzio’s most versatile humbuckers into a plug-and-play upgrade for players chasing articulate high-gain tone or a bigger, more dimensional clean sound. Both pickups wear black covers and ship with 4-conductor wiring for easy coil-splitting if your guitar’s wired for it.
PAF Pro (DP151BK) – Neck
Designed during the rise of rack systems and high-gain amps, the PAF Pro keeps a vintage PAF-style openness while staying transparent enough to cut through heavy processing instead of disappearing into it. Expect snappy, chunky lows, a distinctive mid-range spike that lends a subtle wah-like vocal quality, and treble that stays present without turning brittle. It’s equally at home as a neck pickup or, when you don’t need maximum output, as a bridge pickup on its own.
- Magnet: Alnico 5
- Output: 300 mV
- DC Resistance: 8.4 kOhm
- Wiring: 4-Conductor
- Introduced: 1986
Tone Zone (DP155BK) – Bridge
Built for players who want serious output without losing dynamics, the Tone Zone responds to pick attack rather than flattening everything into buzzsaw compression. Its patented dual-resonance coils push huge, reinforced low-mids and bass while keeping upper harmonics intact, so single notes retain depth and chords sound massive rather than muddy. Split it for a surprisingly convincing single-coil voice.
- Magnet: Alnico 5
- Output: 375 mV
- DC Resistance: 17.31 kOhm
- Wiring: 4-Conductor
Rounding out the bundle is a set of Ernie Ball EB2220 Power Slinky strings, so you can string up and hear these pickups break in on a fresh set right out of the box.
