Description
Two years in development with Steve Vai as the test pilot, the Evolution set was built to survive a hot amp and an even hotter playing style. This F-spaced pair — DP158FW neck and DP159FW bridge — comes in white and includes a free set of D’Addario EXL120+ Super Light Plus strings to get you playing right out of the box.
The neck pickup leans fat and punchy without turning to mud, while the bridge cranks the output higher still for a tighter, more aggressive edge. Both use DiMarzio’s dual-resonance design, which pulls out extra harmonic content that standard humbuckers tend to leave behind — the difference shows up as added sustain and a more vocal upper register, especially when you’re pushing the amp into overdrive.
These aren’t background pickups. They’re voiced for players who want their picking dynamics and phrasing to come through clearly, live or in the studio, even when the mix around them gets dense. If you’re chasing that unmistakable Vai clarity-with-attitude, this is the set that started it.
- Neck (DP158FW): Ceramic magnet, 4-conductor wiring, 294mV output, 13.04 kOhm DC resistance
- Bridge (DP159FW): Ceramic magnet, 4-conductor wiring, 404mV output, 13.84 kOhm DC resistance
- F-spaced for trem-equipped guitars with wider bridge string spacing
- Includes free D’Addario EXL120+ Super Light Plus string set
