Description
This bundle pairs two very different DiMarzio humbuckers built to work together as a complete voice for your guitar, then throws in a set of Ernie Ball EB2223 Super Slinky strings so you’re ready to plug in and go.
The DP103BK PAF 36th Anniversary neck pickup was reverse-engineered from Larry DiMarzio’s own 1959 Les Paul, chasing that same weak-but-focused magnetic field that lets strings ring out longer while keeping attack articulate. Custom-coated 42-gauge wire is computer-wound for consistency, then wax-dipped to kill squeal and microphonics. The nickel-silver cover uses a newer, more magnetically transparent plating than vintage originals, so you get smooth, clear neck tone that doesn’t turn to mud—whether it’s used in the neck or bridge position.
On the bridge side, the DP160FBK Norton (F-spaced for guitars with trem routing or wider string spacing) splits the difference between FRED’s snarling harmonics and the Tone Zone’s midrange muscle. Its dual-resonance design pushes more output and size than any vintage-style pickup without tipping into full distortion-humbucker territory, making it one of the more flexible bridge options in the DiMarzio lineup.
