Description
This set pairs two of DiMarzio’s most respected humbuckers for players who want vintage character up front and real push in the back. The DP103BK PAF 36th Anniversary Neck was built by re-engineering the original Seth Lover PAF design around Larry DiMarzio’s own ’59 Les Paul as the reference point. DiMarzio matched that guitar’s unusually weak magnetic field, which lets strings ring out longer and gives the pickup a defined, almost single-coil-like clarity rather than a muddy vintage haze. Alnico 5 magnets, 42-gauge custom-coated wire on computer-controlled winders, and a nickel-silver cover with magnetically transparent plating all work toward that goal — dipped for squeal-free, non-microphonic performance. Output sits at 250mV with 7.31k DC resistance, wired 4-conductor (1-conductor optional), and it holds up equally well whether you’d run it in the neck or bridge position.
The DP160FBK Norton Bridge is F-spaced for use with trem-routed or floating bridges and lands tonally between FRED and The Tone Zone — some of FRED’s snarling harmonic edge combined with more of Tone Zone’s midrange punch and power. Built on the same dual-resonance design as those two pickups, it’s hotter and bigger-sounding than a vintage-style humbucker without tipping into distortion-pickup territory, which is why DiMarzio considers it one of their most versatile bridge options. Alnico 5 magnet, 352mV output, 12.62k DC resistance, 4-conductor wiring. It pairs well beyond this set too — Air Classic, PAF Pro, and Air Norton all work nicely alongside it.
