This DiMarzio set puts the Air Norton (DP193BK) in the neck and the Tone Zone (DP155BK) in the bridge, giving you two of the brand’s most versatile humbuckers wired together in black. A free set of Elixir Super Light strings is included, so you can get your guitar back together and strung up without a trip to the store.
The Air Norton began life as the Airbucker take on the Norton, but it turned out to be a standout neck pickup rather than just a bridge option. Expect deep, warm tone that never turns to mud, plenty of output without sounding compressed, and harmonics you don’t usually get from a neck humbucker. Its patented magnetic structure cuts string pull, so notes sustain longer and your pick attack stays expressive and dynamic. It’s suited to solid body and semi-hollow guitars, and pairs well with an Air Zone, Tone Zone, or Steve’s Special in the bridge — or run it in the bridge itself against an Air Classic in the neck for a mid-output blues-rock voice. Try 500K pots for extra treble sparkle up top.
In the bridge, the Tone Zone answers the classic complaint of thin, buzzy-sounding bridge pickups. It’s a genuine high-output pickup but with real dynamic range — dig in for serious power, back off for clean and quiet. Bass and low-mid response is huge, single notes carry surprising depth, and chords sound massive. The patented dual-resonance coils keep overtones present even with all that low-end weight, and splitting the coils gets you a solid single-coil tone too. It’s a natural match for the Air Norton, PAF Joe, or PAF Pro.
