Description
This is one of DiMarzio’s most enduring pairings for a reason: the DP193BK Air Norton in the neck handles the warmth and dynamics, while the DP155BK Tone Zone in the bridge brings the size and low-end push, and together they cover everything from clean jazz voicings to stacked-gain rock tones without stepping on each other.
The Air Norton was originally built as an Airbucker take on the Norton, aimed at bridge-position high-gain duty, but it turned out to shine even harder in the neck. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull, which frees up sustain and gives you much finer control over pick attack and dynamics — plus it throws off harmonics that are genuinely unusual for a neck humbucker. Expect deep, open tone that stays warm without turning to mud, and hot output that never tips into flabby distortion. It works beautifully with 500K pots if you want extra treble sparkle and harmonic bite.
The Tone Zone bridge pickup exists for players tired of thin, buzzy bridge tones. It’s a genuinely high-output pickup, but with a dynamic range wide enough that hard picking unleashes serious power while a lighter touch stays clean and controlled. Bass and low-mid response are huge, single notes carry real depth, and chords sound massive. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtone content rich despite the fat low end, and it splits cleanly into a solid single-coil voice when wired for coil-splitting.
Recommended for solid body and semi-hollow guitars. This set ships in black and includes a free set of D’Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom strings.
