Description
This is the classic DiMarzio combo that shows up in gear closets everywhere for a reason: the DP193BC Air Norton in the neck and the DP155BC Tone Zone in the bridge, both finished in matching black and creme bobbins, plus a set of Ernie Ball EB2220 Power Slinky strings to string it all up when you’re done soldering.
The Air Norton began life as an “Airbucker” take on the original Norton, and it turned out to be a surprisingly great neck pickup — deep and warm without turning to mud, hot without falling into distortion, and full of harmonic content that’s rare for a neck humbucker. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, which means better sustain and a much more expressive response to pick attack. Try it through 500K pots if you want maximum treble sparkle and harmonic edge.
Anchoring the bridge, the Tone Zone solves the classic problem of thin, buzzy bridge tone. It’s a genuinely high-output pickup, but with real dynamic range — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up. Expect huge low-mids, deep single notes, and massive-sounding chords, all backed by dual-resonance coils that pull more overtones out of the pickup than you’d expect from something this fat. Split-coil mode also gets you a solid single-coil voice when you need one.
Built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars, this pairing gives you a versatile, powerful set that covers warm cleans through high-gain lead work.
