The DP193BC Air Norton began life as an Airbucker take on the Norton, aimed at bridge duty in high-gain rigs. DiMarzio quickly realized it was even better suited to the neck position. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull, which frees up sustain and gives you real control over pick dynamics. Expect deep, hot tone with unusual harmonic sparkle for a neck humbucker—wire it to 500K pots if you want to push the treble and harmonics further. It plays especially well against The Tone Zone, Air Zone, or Steve’s Special in the bridge slot, or against an Air Classic Bridge model for a medium-output blues-rock voice.
The DP155BC Tone Zone handles bridge duties and earns its reputation as a high-output pickup with real range—dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Big bass and low-mid weight give chords a huge presence while single notes stay defined, thanks to dual-resonance coils that pull more overtones than you’d expect from a pickup this thick. It also splits to a solid single-coil tone.
Both pickups use 4-conductor wiring and Alnico 5 magnets, so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting and phase wiring. Best suited to solid body and semi-hollow guitars.
