Description
This DiMarzio set puts two of the brand’s most-loved humbuckers together for a reason: they were practically made for each other. The DP193BC Air Norton takes the neck slot, using DiMarzio’s patented Air Norton magnetic structure to cut down on string pull. What you get is a warm, open pickup with real sustain and surprisingly vocal harmonics for a neck humbucker — clean articulation on light picking, real push when you dig in. It runs 4-conductor wiring, an Alnico 5 magnet, roughly 270mV output, and 12.58 Kohm DC resistance.
In the bridge, the DP155FBC Tone Zone (F-spaced for guitars with trem routing or floating bridges) brings serious low-mid weight and bass response without collapsing into mush. Dig in and it roars; back off and it cleans up nicely — that dynamic range is the whole point. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtones present even at high output, and switching to split-coil mode gets you a convincing single-coil voice when you want it. Specs here: 4-conductor wiring, Alnico 5 magnet, about 375mV output, 17.31 Kohm DC resistance.
Both pickups arrive in matching black and creme covers, built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars. Wiring notes worth trying: 500K pots on the Air Norton for extra treble bite, or 250K (or a 500K volume with 250K tone) on the Tone Zone to round off the highs slightly.
