This DiMarzio set puts two of the brand’s most beloved humbuckers together: the DP193BC Air Norton in the neck and the DP155FBC Tone Zone (F-spaced) in the bridge, both finished in black and creme bobbins for a clean, classic look.
The Air Norton was designed as the Airbucker counterpart to the Norton, and while DiMarzio expected it to shine as a high-gain bridge pickup, it turned out to be an exceptional neck humbucker instead. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull for longer sustain and lets pick dynamics come through clearly. Expect a deep, warm tone that stays articulate rather than muddy, with unexpected harmonic sparkle for a neck pickup — try it through 500K pots to bring out extra treble and shimmer.
In the bridge, the Tone Zone answers the age-old complaint of thin, buzzy-sounding bridge pickups. It’s a genuinely high-output pickup, but its dual-resonance coil design keeps things dynamic: dig in for huge, saturated chords and big low-mid weight, or back off your pick attack for a cleaner, quieter response. Single notes retain surprising depth, and it also cleans up nicely in split-coil mode for single-coil-style tones.
Together, this pairing delivers a versatile, powerful voice suited to solid body and semi-hollow guitars alike — equally at home with high-gain riffing or expressive, dynamic lead work.
