This DiMarzio DP193BC/DP155FBC set solves a classic wiring dilemma: how do you get a neck pickup with real harmonic sparkle and a bridge pickup that roars without turning into mush? The Air Norton was designed as an “Airbucker” take on the Norton, and while DiMarzio expected it to shine as a high-gain bridge pickup, it turned out to be an unusually expressive neck humbucker instead. Its patented magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, so notes bloom with extra sustain and your pick attack stays dynamic and controllable. Expect deep, warm tone with unexpected harmonic complexity — hot without ever getting muddy.
In the bridge, the Tone Zone (in F-spaced form here) brings serious output paired with a surprisingly wide dynamic range. Dig in and it delivers massive low-mid weight and huge chord voicings; back off and it cleans up nicely. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtones alive even at this pickup’s fat, aggressive output level, and it splits into a genuinely usable single-coil voice when you want it.
Both pickups use 4-conductor wiring, so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting and phase experiments. Finished in black and creme for a classic look, this set is built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars chasing a medium-to-high output blues-rock or hard rock voice.
