Description
This set solves the classic humbucker mismatch problem by pairing two pickups built to complement each other rather than fight for headroom. The DP193FW Air Norton neck pickup uses DiMarzio’s patented Air Norton magnetic structure to cut string pull, which means longer sustain and a touch response that stays expressive instead of collapsing into mush. Deep and warm without going muddy, it’s hot enough to balance against aggressive bridge humbuckers but still throws off unusual harmonic detail for a neck pickup — try it with 500K pots if you want maximum treble sparkle.
Anchoring the bridge is the DP155FW Tone Zone, DiMarzio’s answer to thin, buzzy bridge pickups. It’s a genuinely high-output design, but with real dynamic range: dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Dual-resonance coils keep the overtones alive even at this output level, so single notes retain depth and chords sound massive rather than compressed. Split it for a convincing single-coil voice when you want to change character mid-set.
Both pickups are F-spaced for guitars with trem-spaced bridge routing and wired with 4-conductor cable for coil-splitting flexibility. This white-cover set also includes a set of Ernie Ball EB2221 Regular Slinky strings, so you’re ready to install and restring in one go.
