Some neck/bridge combos feel like an afterthought. This one’s engineered. DiMarzio built the DP193FW Air Norton and DP155FW Tone Zone in white F-spaced housings specifically to work as a matched set, and the contrast between them is exactly what makes them click together.
The Air Norton (neck) started life as an experiment — an Airbucker take on the Norton meant for high-gain bridge duty. Instead, it turned out to be a phenomenal neck pickup. The Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, so you get longer sustain and more expressive pick dynamics without losing warmth. Expect deep, open tone with surprising harmonic content for a neck humbucker — hot without tipping into mud or unwanted distortion. It plays especially well through 500K pots if you want extra treble sparkle.
The Tone Zone (bridge) is the answer to thin, buzzy bridge tone. It’s a genuinely high-output pickup, but with real dynamic range: dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Patented dual-resonance coils push huge low-mid weight and reinforced bottom end while still letting single notes ring with depth — chords come out massive rather than mushy. It even splits cleanly for convincing single-coil tones.
Both pickups use 4-conductor wiring and Alnico 5 magnets, so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting and series/parallel wiring projects. Suited to solid-body and semi-hollow guitars.
