Description
This is the classic DiMarzio pairing that shows up in countless “what pickups should I get” threads for good reason. The DP193FW Air Norton was born as an Airbucker take on the Norton, and while it was designed with bridge duty in mind, players quickly found it’s a phenomenal neck pickup — deep and warm without turning to mud, hot without smearing into distortion, and full of harmonic content you don’t normally expect from a neck humbucker. Its patented magnetic structure cuts string pull, which means better sustain and more room to dig in or back off with your picking hand. In the neck slot, try it with 500K pots to keep the top end and harmonics alive.
Handling bridge duties is the DP155FW Tone Zone, DiMarzio’s answer to thin, buzzy bridge tone. It’s genuinely high-output, but with a dynamic range that rewards how you pick — dig in for serious push, ease off for cleaner, quieter tones. Bass and low-mid response are big without getting muddy, single notes stay defined, and chords sound enormous thanks to the dual-resonance coil design that pulls out extra overtones. It also splits nicely for a convincing single-coil voice.
Both pickups here are F-spaced for guitars with routed/trembucker spacing, finished in white, and wired with 4-conductor leads for coil-splitting and phase options. This set ships with a free set of D’Addario NYXL1046 regular light strings.
